Zombie Survival Quiz 2 Update/Poll

Posted by secv Oct. 31, 2009 @ 11:37 AM EDT

So yeah, it's obviously been a very long time (a few months short of two years) since the last ZSQ came out, so I pose this question to you, the users of Newgrounds:

Release sooner and drop minigames, or wait it out until they get put in. Mind you there have been significant interface and score tweaks as well as new questions, so don't think it's exactly the same as the first.

So there, post your thoughts below!

Well...i guess it depends on the importance of the mini games to ZSQ2 like do they show what items you would grab in the emergency outbreak or your reaction time. If they do then i say leave them in we've been waiting so far we can wait a little longer. But if the mini games aren't so important then i say drop them.

ps. Will there be rage zombies in ZSQ2?

pps. O yeah first response!!!

Nov. 6, 2009 | 10:40 AM secv responds:

Nope, no rage zombies here.

Oct. 31, 2009 | 1:38 PM SirUndead says:

Wait longer and leave it in. One of the saddest things in the gaming industry is how developers end up rushed for time and their true abilities, and great ideas never get to show, and the game falls into the abyss of unknown pieces of shit.

Go big or go home!

Good luck with all of it though, and remember to have fun with it too!

True, true...

Wait and let it blossom to its full potential lol.

Nov. 6, 2009 | 10:42 AM secv responds:

haha yes like a precious rose.

i've seen to many rushed or poorly done games with alot of potential, just because artists got lazy or wanted to save time and get alot of mediocre games out. I think you shoul keep them in so your game so it looks and plays better when it does come out after all the time it takes to make it. in the mean time there's other stuff to do while we wait to keep us busy.

Nov. 6, 2009 | 10:42 AM secv responds:

I see what you mean about there's other stuff to do.

Strike a balance. How long is it? Are the minigames repetitive? Can they be spaced more sporadically throughout the game, so instead of doing one every other question, you do it one every five questions? Also, if you need some help picking up the art slack, I've been working on my chops a bit so drop me a line.

FAAAANNNNNNTAASCTIC!!!! good to hear that youre still into finishing this whole thing. So my suggestion is that you wait until you are truly complete with the project so that we can have the full awesomeness that you meant it to be. Stay Awesome.

Dec. 1, 2009 | 1:52 AM secv responds:

Thanks, and I'll do my best!

Nov. 6, 2009 | 10:03 PM MrSaturn33 says:

Release later and make it as deep as possible.

Dec. 1, 2009 | 1:51 AM secv responds:

hehe That's what she said. Sorry :p

Nov. 7, 2009 | 4:57 PM RubySparkle14 says:

We can wait, I'd like to see the full version

Nov. 10, 2009 | 12:59 PM RashDecision says:

You should probably wait and finish it all.

PS. Check out Ozort.com, they might have some ideas that can help you.

Nov. 13, 2009 | 12:21 PM boodemon says:

I say wait and make it perfect

Nov. 15, 2009 | 9:49 AM spacenerd says:

I will wait. :)

Nov. 23, 2009 | 8:47 PM demon-boy77 says:

its better to make a quiz without minigames than over shoot and not make a quiz at all.

Dec. 1, 2009 | 1:55 AM secv responds:

That's true. It can be discouraging not being able to get something right at first.

Nov. 24, 2009 | 7:39 PM 091 says:

What about if you release two versions:

1) an early version without the mini-games

2) a later version that comes with the mini-games

This way, you tide over the people who have been waiting for a year and a half for this game, and then a more specific one for all of the cool ideas.

Dec. 1, 2009 | 1:56 AM secv responds:

LOL when you say a "year and a half" it puts things into perspective doesn't it? Goodness gracious snakes alive what a long time...

Nov. 28, 2009 | 4:19 AM Moonbeast says:

Well, we've waited this long. Honestly, I think we can wait it out till it's complete.

Dec. 11, 2009 | 7:58 PM OrgyEggRoll says:

I say take your time. Remember when Xbox came out first? it busted like shit and people got really mad. take your time.

Dec. 19, 2009 | 7:54 PM Painjester says:

I can understand, that you have other things to do, otherwise it wouldn't last so long make the game. Finish the project and let the quiz be a pure quiz ;)
Today I made the quiz via skype and it was pretty fun and worked well, I cound have done it with another person, when I was forced to play minigames.
I think the focus should really be on the question part, that is the most interesting thing.
This way you can share it with persons, who arent interested in playing, but rather the whole zombie-science (max brooks almost made it a science itself), penetrating questions (would you kill a close person?) and thrilling what-if cases
By the way, great job with the first quiz. Damn, never expected such an atmosphere of a quiz. Genius. and it was kinda good commercial or max brooks' book :D

I like 019's idea, release a Verson1.5, to give us a taste of the amasing things to come, bring in new fans who missed ZSQ1, and to "up the hype" for ZSQ2. like a appatiser to a great meal.
lol, meal> feast>zombies

Am I really able to survive with a Z+?

Dec. 27, 2009 | 6:06 PM bubbleboy878 says:

drop the minigames

Dec. 27, 2009 | 11:39 PM Shroiken says:

I've always had a "meh" attitude to minigames (I wouldn't mind a skip option, if they aren't essential to the score)....but on principle, I'm against developers rushing stuff out. However....I'm rather torn on this one. (Lotta help *I* am...)

But it's good to see you're still working on this ;)
